Electronic components constantly move between storage, production and dispatch. ESD containers and boxes allow them to be stored and transported safely without the risk of discharge.
What are ESD containers and how do they work?
Containers made of conductive or dissipative plastics that dissipate charge in a controlled way and protect the contents from discharge and electrostatic fields.
Types
Conductive stacking containers, dissipative boxes with lids, inserts and trays for individual components, and shielding bags for shipping.
Materials and standard
Conductive (black) and dissipative (often transparent) plastics are used. ČSN EN 61340-5-1 defines the requirements for packaging sensitive parts.
Boxes or shielding bags?
Robust containers suit repeated internal handling, while shielding bags and ESD packaging are for shipping and long-term storage.
