ESD Workstation Grounding
Properly designed grounding connects all conductive elements of the EPA zone — mat, operator's wrist strap, floor and cabinets — to a single reference potential. Only then can you guarantee that no component will be exposed to a hazardous discharge.
Typical situations where you address grounding: you are building a new EPA workplace and need to connect the mat, wrist strap and floor to one point; an existing workplace fails the audit or does not meet IEC 61340-5-1; you are adding more tables to an existing EPA zone; you need to connect an ESD cabinet or rack to the existing system; or you are looking for a replacement cable after damage.
